75-Year-Old Woman Dies While Separating Fighting Neighbours

A 75-year-old woman, Esther Asakula, was killed while trying to separate fighting neighbours in her compound at Igbalaye area of Akure, Ondo State.
The woman was pushed down by the fighting neighbours in Ondo resulting in her death.
Mrs. Asakula was reportedly pushed down by the fighting neighbors which resulted in her death. All efforts to save her live at the Specialist Hospital, Akure proved abortive as she gave up the ghost before reaching the hospital.
The unfortunate incident which occurred on Monday threw the entire community into confusion.
It was gathered that three women, believed to be the neighbours to the deceased, engaged in a free for all fight over a domestic matter which the police command are trying to unravel.
The three women have been arrested and are currently being interrogated by the police.
Spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, Wole Ogodo, confirmed the incident, saying that police detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene where they apprehended the three fighting women.
He said the deceased was only playing the role of a good Samaritan by trying to make peace between the women; but her efforts led to her death.
Mr. Ogodo cautioned that people should always report their differences to the police, being the institution saddled with the duty of maintaining peace. He also warned that the police would not hesitate to deal ruthlessly with anyone caught disturbing the public peace.
The Police spokesman assured the deceased family that justice will be done in the matter, adding that the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, has commenced a full scale investigation to ascertain the immediate cause of the fighting between the women.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased is still at the State Specialist Hospital.
